“An homage to quite famous apes… Ironically, Laâbissi and Baehr assume the identities of Meshie and Consul and play out the human tendency toward alienation and humanization.”
Der Standard transl.

The human being is his own monkey. Or: Two humans are playing monkeys who are playing humans for humans. They get out of control and control each other while training each other. They eagerly dos and don’ts. They sleep and lapse into apathy, they blast slogans from populist speeches. They cannibalise poses, iconic dances, embroider slogans. For the duration of three and a half hours, Consul and Meshie present hybrid figures who question the violence of attributions. They swirl on the border of the categories nature/culture, man/woman, own and foreign.
