Difficult times. How to proceed? This magical show can offer the remedy for despondency, rage, weariness or fear. Eun-Me Ahn, the famous Korean choreographer, makes her DRAGONS breathe love instead of fire. Love of art, of colour, of beauty and lustre. Up is down, and inside is outside, something grows, blows and swirls, dives and jumps. They don’t rest, the 14 dancers in total – six of them weightless holograms – but it’s not a fight. Everything fits, is given the space it needs and also retains its differences: dance, dances. Tireless dancing. In Eun-Me Ahn’s work, there is a desire to pass on, especially in times of isolation due to the pandemic. In addition to the members of her company, she has selected dancers from other Asian countries. What unites them is that they are all connected to their traditions, fond of contemporary styles and – all of them were born in the year of the dragon: 2000. They are millennials, at home in the digital world, which is also a kind of fairytale world. The power of such agile dragon creatures can give birth to the drive of an all-good-fantasy. In the end, silver turns into gold.

EUN-ME AHN received five awards and honours in 2019 alone. She has always maintained stylistic daring, but also respect for traditions, such as Korean shamanism. Her company, founded in 1988, tours worldwide. DRAGONS premiered in Lyon in September 2020.
