Dance and visual arts in dialogue

Man and sculpture are stable quantities. Their distance from each other constitutes the unstable variable; for it signifies time and space.

Heinz-Günter Prager

Radical form, strict geometry. This is how the works of the sculptor Heinz-Günter Prager, born in Herne in 1944, are characterised. What happens when dance joins in? Floor sculptures made of steel – dancers next to them, in front of them, around them. In stillness, in movement? With heaviness or lightness? Five dance artists based in Bremen are creating short choreographies for the exhibition in the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus: LEILA BAKHTALI, NEUS LEDESMA VIDAL, MIRIAM RÖDER, MIRJAM RAUCH and MARKUS HOFT. Whether the dialogues or relationships with the sculptures will be harmonious or contentious remains to be seen. They are intended to change the view, of the objects and of the dance.
