We rage. We lose our temper. We boil over. We burst. We go off the deep end… Geez, don’t get angry!

Anger is a motor. Anger is uncomfortable. Anger is threatening. Anger drives, liberates, destroys. Anger changes. As a basic human emotion, it is loaded with information. As an impulse generator, as a driving force, it provides a lot of energy. In the dance piece AUS DER HAUT FAHREN, six dancers confront the phenomenon of anger. Between theoretical debate and empirical self-experimentation, they explore what it means to be angry. A pleasurable and likewise uncomfortable play with a confrontational life energy that can bring change and destruction. In dialogue with their own and others’ anger, the stage becomes an experimental laboratory.

BIRGIT FREITAG founded the every friday I dance production for interdisciplinary productions in 2000. She works freelance in Bremen and nationally, also for municipal and state theatres. In 2019 she was awarded the FAUST Prize for directing children’s and youth theatre for the dance piece FÜR VIER. Her latest piece was created in close collaboration with freelance set and costume designer, photographer and filmmaker LEA DIETRICH.
