KOMPANIE TANZWERK / ROLF HAMMES & KEVIN YOUNG (DE)

EL PARAISO
2005

They taste as sweet as paradise: watermelons from the south of Spain. Cultivated by Moroccan immigrants like Abderrazak, who came to Almeria to work ten hours a day in plastic tents – in a temperature of 50 degrees Centigrade, without any skin or breathing protection. In February 2000 he murdered a Spanish woman, resulting in a bloody pogrom against the immigrants. Using dramaturgic devices of the medium film, the kompanie tanzwerk in El Paraiso reports about the dark side of Globalization – seen from outside of Europe.
