Gilles Welinski
EXIL
World premiere

Straying around. Feeling homeless. Wanting to locate oneself. All three phenomena grow from one root: Exil is the title Gilles Welinski gives his performance, for which he has himself locked in during the entire course of the festival – in a cell of the former Ostertorwache prison. He examines his own family story, then wanders examplarily through other dancer’s biographies and finally explores dance itself as an opportunity to form an identity: Each movement must be newly formulated and invented. Visitors can visit the block in the evenings and peer through the spyhole.

Gilles Welinski first danced in France with Fattoumi-Lamoureux and in Germany with Pina Bausch, before coming to the Bremer Tanztheater – to Susanne Linke and Urs Dietrich. He now produces his own pieces.
