Children/A Few Minutes of Lock
Lenght: 75 minutes (incl. intermission)
Public talk after the show at KUBO

”… a firework of breathtaking leaps and movements, the rapidity of which can hardly be grasped.” Rheinische Post

”… a thunderstorm of energy and versatility.” The Skinny

”… often imitated, never equalled. She remains the untameable platinum-blond rebel, refusing all chains. For her, dance is an act of sharing.” Le Monde

”Her tiny, androgenous body is commanding, impressive, expressive, and tireless.” The Gazette

Ballett goes punk: When Louise Lecavalier gave her debut as a soloist with Canadian choreographer Edouard Lock in the 1980s, there were exclamations of surprise in the world of dance. Never before had one seen such a relentless, brilliantly tough style of dance – flanked by a live punk guitar. Now, the Bessie Award-winning Canadian cultural ambassador has her own ensemble. And can choose her own choreographers.

Briton Nigel Charnock created Children for her and dancer Patrick Lamothe, a touching duet on the ups and downs of a couple raising children together. Afterwards, in her 13-minute duet A Few Minutes of Lock, she will once more present highlights of her career as a soloist with La La La Human Steps, jumping and doing her inimitable pirouettes horizontally in the air – just like she did thirty years ago.
